Star in the making? Panthers teammates say Bradfor
“He is big,” Munnerlyn said. “He is physical. He knows how to cover, and he can go get the ball.”
The Panthers’ second-round draft pick a year ago, Bradberry was forced into the starting lineup immediately along with fellow rookie Daryl Worley after former Carolina GM Dave Gettleman made the mistake of rescinding Norman’s franchise tag and allowing him to leave the team in April 2016 with no compensation.
Bradberry took some lumps.
“I feel a lot better than I did last year,” Bradberry said Friday. “I have a lot more knowledge on the system that we run.”
The two games that Panthers fans cringe about most last year were when Julio Jones went for an astounding 300 receiving yards for Atlanta in one game — the most ever allowed by the Panthers — and Drew Brees threw for 465 yards for New Orleans two weeks later.
Bradberry got hurt early in the first game and didn’t play in the second, which showed the Panthers how much their secondary would struggle without him in there at full speed.

Being a new dad compels Panthers cornerback Daryl
“That’s the one thing I’m looking forward to (about camp), is a little bit of sleep,” he laughed. “I’ve been up, I feel like, for eight days straight. We try to take turns with everything that’s going on, try to keep it an equal balance. It’s turning into her doing more during the day and me doing more at night.”
Worley left for camp on Wednesday morning just an hour before Kaiden was supposed to wake up for the day.
Veteran nickel corner Captain Munnerlyn said this spring that what the two faced was a “trial by fire,” but that he believed they can now get through anything. Worley agreed.
“Nobody wants to be thrown into the fire and then get burned,” he said. “And then go, ‘Ouch, that hurts.’ But it happened that way. God had a plan for it to go that way. And hopefully it shows that we’re better.”
Of course, no longer being a rookie helps.
“I was talking about that last night,” said Worley. “I was so anxious (last year). Now I know what to expect and this year I’m more relaxed; just ready to go out there and compete.”

Fantasy Football Stock Watch: Andy Dalton and othe
Jacquizz Rodgers: He’s slated to start the first three games of the season with Doug Martin suspended, yet Rodgers remains a complete afterthought at draft tables with a RB48 ADP (and 120 overall). During his five games as a starter last season, he totaled 117 touches, which would prorate for 375 over a full season. That would’ve led the NFL in touches. I’m not going to argue Rodgers is going to keep the job after Martin returns (the latter impressed during the summer and by all means should take over the starting role when he returns), but it’s also not out of the question. Rodgers led all backs with a 7.0 YPC mark when facing light fronts last season. The Bucs’ offense also has the makings of something special, with Jameis Winston still improving, Mike Evans still just 23 years old (he’s scored 12 touchdowns in two of his three seasons in the league), and they added DeSean Jackson and O.J. Howard during the offseason. Rodgers should be a top-10 fantasy back through the first month or so of 2017 (TB’s schedule against the run early on looks highly favorable).
Hunter Henry: The Chargers have plenty of options to throw to, but rookie Mike Williams is dealing with what might be a serious back injury, while Keenan Allen has played nine games over the past two seasons. Antonio Gates is 37 years old, Danny Woodhead is gone, and Melvin Gordon has durability issues as well. Enter Henry, who scored eight touchdowns last year as a rookie while playing a position in which most struggle during their first year in the league. Henry’s fantasy points per target (2.48) ranked No. 3 in the NFL, and he should only improve during his sophomore season. He’s the best tight end to target in your draft.

Hub Arkush: Strength for Chicago Bears resides in
“He’s settled in now. He’s spent a year playing center in the National Football League. He had the whole offseason to study himself, the league.”
As good as Sitton and Long have been, though, both will have questions to answer.
Sitton suffered an ankle injury last season, battled some chest issues this offseason as he turned 31 and will be moving back to his natural right guard spot after playing on the left side last year.
Long will be playing his third position in two years with a move to left guard and is returning from a serious ankle surgery, and he admits it’s been a rough stretch.
“First time being away from the team for an extended period, first time missing any games, not be able to be on the sidelines for games," he said this week. "Mobility was really tough. It gives you an appreciation for your health and makes you feel sympathetic and empathetic towards people that don’t have great mobility.”

Chicago Bears Training Camp Battle 2017: Jaye Howa
Howard, on the other hand, performed much better in 2016. In 360 snaps for the Kansas City Chiefs, he posted a solid 75.6 grade from Pro Football Focus (via PFF Edge). That grade is in line with what he did in 2014 and 2015, a time period in which Howard totaled 6.5 sacks and 93 tackles. He injured his hip last December, but he should be a full go in training camp.
If Howard can stay healthy, he could be a phenomenal pickup. An ideal fit for the 3-4 defensive end, Howard would pair nicely with Goldman and Hicks to give the Bears a pretty formidable defensive front.
However, the Bears might be pulling for Bullard to win the job. After all, Bullard was a high draft choice by this front office and is five years younger than Howard. In addition, Bullard still has three years left on his contract, compared to the one-year deal Howard signed in May. For the long-term success of the organization, it would probably be best if the younger Bullard won the job outright and never looked back.
This competition figures to go on all training camp long, as neither player is a sure thing. Howard could very well win it, but it’s assumed that the Bears will give Bullard a little more leeway. As it stands now, it appears that Bullard has the inside track for the starting spot.

Healthy — knock on wood — Kevin White eager to ‘d
White seems to know he’s at a stage in his career where he needs to prove himself more than talk about proving himself. So his answers to questions from reporters were succinct, as they have been throughout his latest recovery.
What’s his mindset coming into his third NFL training camp — actually his second as an active player — after two frustrating seasons?
“Patient, but with a little bit of urgency,” White said. “Just want to go out there, play, have fun and do my job.”
White said the trip quarterback Mike Glennon organized with the other receivers and rookie Mitch Trubisky was a big hit.
“It was great — the best thing I’ve done collectively [with] a group since I’ve been in the league,” White said. “It was phenomenal — couldn’t have gone any better.
“We bonded, we did everything together. There weren’t any cliques. Everybody was together. We ate together, laughed together. And we put in a lot of good work.”
That could pay dividends in the regular season. But White said he has only one measurement of success this season.

Ex-Duck C Hroniss Grasu hopes to secure roster spo
What might help Grasu is another former Oregon star, Kyle Long. Long is being shifted from right guard to left guard this season, but he's still recovering from a severe right ankle injury and torn labrum in his left shoulder. The ankle required surgery and then he experience complications from the anesthesia administered during surgery. The complications caused Long to lose nearly 60 pounds and he only recently closed in on his playing weight of 320. Long opted to rehab his shoulder instead of having surgery.
There is speculation that Long could be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to start the regular season, meaning he would miss the first six games of the season. If Long is placed on the list, the Bears could move Whitehair to left guard to replace Long and insert Grasu at center.
The Bears could opt to simply insert backup Eric Kush into Long's spot and minimize any disruption on the offensive line. Kush started in four of the eight games he appeared in last season.
Should the Bears opt for Kush, that would make Grasu's chances for a roster more difficult. If the Bears decide to carry eight offensive lineman this year, which could place Grasu on the bubble.

Cedric Ogbuehi preparing to impress at left tackle
That said, it is still nice to hear about Ogbuehi’s continued development. The Bengals took a big risk on him as he was coming out of college with a torn ACL suffered in his final game with Texas A&M. The problem is, we as fans don’t get to see his development over the course of the offseason, so there are many people who question his value to the team going forward.
“Last week was a big week for him. You can see it click in,” Glazer said. “Whit said the same thing … He’s showing toughness and fighting back.” Whitworth is also training with Glazer and Ogbuehi at Unbreakable.
If Ogbuehi can shake off the baggage from his disappointing 2016 season and use the switch to left tackle to foster success, he should silence all those who doubt the Bengals made the right choice when they selected him. Until then, his on-field production, which has been poor up to this point, is the only thing that fans can take into consideration. But, if you believe what the Bengals tell you, he is poised, in 2017, to prove the Bengals made the right moves in drafting him and moving on from Whitworth, the 35-year-old veteran who spent 11 years in Cincinnati.
