The Chicago Bears’ Tarik Cohen is worth taking a closer look
The Chicago Bears had a draft to remember in 2017, but not for the reasons one might expect. General Manager Ryan Pace appeared to have a wheel of oddball schools at the ready as the team ended up with players from Ashland University, Kutztown State and North Carolina A&T.
Putting aside the buzz over quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, one of the most talked about new faces is Tarik Cohen.
“Who?”
Tarik Cohen, the running back from North Carolina A&T.
Tarik Cohen is small, quick, agile, elusive, and the Chicago Bears fourth-round draft pick. His name may not stand out amongst the rest, but his football resume will catch anyone’s eye. Throughout his time in the FCS with North Carolina A&T, he was the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference all time leading rusher and first three-time Offensive Player of the Year. In the 2016 season he was an All-American and managed to set a school record of 1,588 yards rushing with 19 touchdowns on 212 carries.
Cohen was a player that only got better with time, and if his collegiate progress is a true sign of his capabilities, than the Chicago Bears have themselves an absolute steal.
The problem for Cohen is the competition. He will be coming from a place where he was the best show on turf into an atmosphere where he may be a third string running back who will not see nearly as much playing time. Not to mention, being able to juke his way past the elite group of defenders at the NFL level will not be as easy transition.
Nevertheless, coined with the nickname “The Human Joystick,” Cohen has a skill-set that is hard to come by. Standing at an intimidating 5’6”, the 179 lbs Cohen can bring defenders on a wild goose chase with his quick footing and top-notch field vision.
The Chicago Bears needed a playmaker, and by drafting Cohen they got one.
The real question now will be how can Cohen adapt to his less significant role, and will the Bears coaching staff be able to use him efficiently. Last year, the Bears found Jordan Howard to be their permanent starting running back, and with the more experienced Jeremy Langford still on the team to back him up, the Bears coaching staff may find some difficulty in fitting Cohen in. With that being said, Cohen does come with the benefit of lining up in the slot, or as a receiver, because of his ability to find open spots. His carry count may be rather low in 2017 season, but the Bears have a receiving core that is not anywhere near set in stone. Cohen should find the ball in his hands numerous times in the upcoming season, he just may have to be catching it instead.
There is no question that Cohen draws extreme comparisons to current veteran Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles. The two are almost identical in their talents and can equally disrupt defenses. Sproles does come in as a little bigger than Cohen with way more experience as a kick returner as well. However, with a couple years in the NFL, Cohen could easily become Sproles 2.0.
The Bears Ryan Pace may have looked outside the realm of normal in this years draft, but the chances of Tarik Cohen becoming a normal face for the Windy City in the coming years are high.

Ravens' Nico Siragusa 'Obviously Willing
Ronnie Stanley and Marshal Yanda are entrenched at left tackle and right guard, respectively, but there's more flexibility with the other spots. Alex Lewis played left guard last season but was a left tackle at Nebraska in 2014 and 2015. Lewis could presumably bounce outside to right tackle, with Siragusa filling in at left guard. The competition for center also is wide open, though Siragusa has never played there before.
"I've never really snapped. If they want to teach me how to play center, I'm obviously willing to learn, but I haven't really played center before," Siragusa said. "But I feel like I'm really football smart to where I could understand the schemes of the defense and offense and what calls to make and how to multi-task -- snapping and doing footwork at the same time.
"I just want to help the team win, and whatever that entails me to do -- if that means I've got to be the sixth guy and play both guard spots in case someone gets hurt, or be the backup center, or come in on big-man packages, I don't care, just whatever it takes for the team to win."

Ravens' Marlon Humphrey is a world-class expe
"He’d have to keep improving [to have a shot at the Olympics]," Devon Hind, Humphrey's high school coach, told AL.com. “College is a whole new level. So then are the Olympics beyond that. But he’s on par with those who have done it before. Right now, you can say that he’s on par with the elite hurdlers that there have ever been in high school.”
Humphrey also established himself as one of the elite corners in college football. After redshirting as a freshman, he was a starter in his two seasons with the Crimson Tide, totaling 29 starts while playing against some of the best talent in the SEC.
He's coming into a situation with the Ravens, where there won't be tremendous pressure to start right away. Baltimore has two proven starters with the return of Jimmy Smith and the free-agent signing of Brandon Carr.
"That is not to say I do not think [Humphrey] is going to get on the field right away because I think he is, and we are going to be in a rotation with all those players," coach John Harbaugh said. "That is a good thing to have. We are going to have a lot of players on the field that can cover people."

Jared Goff shows he's growing into role of Ra
McVay wasn't around when the Rams moved up 14 spots to draft Goff No. 1 overall last spring, and thus has no real loyalty to Goff, who struggled mightily over the course of seven rookie starts, all of them losses. If Goff doesn't show signs that he is making significant strides toward at least becoming a reliable starting quarterback for the foreseeable future, McVay probably won't have a hard time turning to his backup, Sean Mannion, a third-round pick in 2015 who hasn't seen much playing time yet.
McVay often has said he and his staff will "constantly evaluate guys."
Starting fresh allows him to keep an open mind at every position, including quarterback.
"Jared is our guy; we have a lot of confidence in what he's done," McVay stressed after Monday's practice. "But we have confidence in Sean as well. ... We’re going to play the guys that give us the ability to win football games and the guys that are competing at the highest level. Clearly, Jared has done that so far. It’s a one-day-at-a-time process, but what he has done is just pick things up. He’s getting better every single day, and he has definitely commanded that role. He did that again today."

Colin Kaepernick is back to square one
but Austin Davis still feels like some sort of breaking point.,There’s been no material change in the Colin Kaepernick story for months now
After all, the Seattle Seahawks appeared to offer Kaepernick his best hope for ending his job search. An open-minded organization in an open-minded part of the country with an offense engineered around a mobile quarterback, Seattle kicked the tires on Kaepernick late last month and said they liked what they saw. “He’s a starter in this league,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said.
And then,Authentic Tyler Higbee Jersey, when it came time to pick a veteran backup for Russell Wilson, the Seahawks signed Austin Davis. Which means ...
at this point it means something big is going to have to change in order for Kaepernick to find a job. An injury or some other unforeseen calamity will have to upset some team’s quarterback situation enough to change its mind on giving him a chance -- even to be a backup.,Pharoh Cooper Jersey,Well
It’s June now. Teams are finishing OTAs and heading into mandatory minicamps,Authentic Jamon Brown Jersey, which represent the final activity before training camps begin in July. That means offseason rosters are basically set,Authentic Sean Mannion Jersey, and the only team that’s even had Kaepernick in its building gave a roster spot to Austin Davis instead.
New York Giants owner John Mara last week gave voice to the presumed (but previously unspoken) reason many teams have shied away, when he told The MMQB he’d never received more or angrier messages from fans than he did at the height of the Kaepernick national anthem controversy last season. While not saying that’s why he didn’t sign Kaepernick, Mara made the point that teams are aware of the emotions that come attached to Kaepernick. It was easy to infer from his remarks that -- fairly or unfairly -- any team signing Kaepernick would risk angering a segment of its fan base. And teams don’t like to do that.
Which is why at least 31 quarterbacks whose 55.2 Total QBR in 2016 was lower than that of Kaepernick -- who ranked an uninspiring 23rd in that category -- are on NFL rosters right now and he’s not. That number doesn’t count Austin Davis, who in five NFL seasons has 13 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions but who didn’t take a snap in 2016. It does count the likes of Mark Sanchez, Nick Foles, Geno Smith and Ryan Fitzpatrick. It does not count Blaine Gabbert,Tyler Higbee Jersey, who ranked a couple of spots ahead of Kaepernick on that list but also lost his job with the 49ers to Kaepernick midseason.
Carroll’s assertion that Kaepernick is a starter in the NFL might not hold up under an honest assessment of the once-brilliant quarterback’s performance over the past couple of seasons,Authentic Pharoh Cooper Jersey,Authentic Rob Havenstein Jersey, Kaepernick can’t get one. And it’s clear that his anthem protest -- alarming in unprecedented ways to team owners -- is a major reason. At this point,Rob Havenstein Jersey, but it’s undeniable that Kaepernick has more to offer than many of the quarterbacks who will report to NFL training camps next month. And while his protest of the anthem was peaceful and harmless and even respectful once he amended it upon consultation with members of the military,Jamon Brown Jersey, it was something the league hadn’t seen before,Sean Mannion Jersey, domestic abusers and performance-enhancing drug users, and it stirred fan anger to a unique extent that alarms NFL team owners. In a league that grants high-profile second chances to drunk drivers, something big and out of his control is going to have to happen for that to change.

Watson, Williams and Gillmore all suffered injuries. Waller and Boyle were suspended for four and 10 games, respectively. That left Pitta carrying the load on what originally looked like a stacked tight end corps.
The Ravens have all those tight ends back this year in what again looks to be a very full room. Baltimore still kept Pitta, who will turn 32 in a month, though he took a pay cut for a second straight year.
Now with a full offseason of normal training, Pitta feels like he could be even better than last year. The Ravens could use him more as a red-zone target this season after last year’s leader in receiving touchdowns, Steve Smith Sr., retired. Pitta scored seven touchdowns in 2012 before his first hip injury.
Pitta also feels like having Offensive Coordinator Marty Mornhinweg running the unit at the start of the season will help the offense as a whole.
“Consistency at the offensive coordinator spot certainly helps,” Pitta said. “We have not had a lot of that over the years. I was one that was a little bit vocal last year in saying that we needed consistency. I’m happy that that is what we got, and that we can continue to build off of what we did last year.”

Denver Broncos: Chris Harris Jr. On Path to be Tea
There are plenty of great cornerbacks to wear a Denver Broncos uniform and Chris Harris Jr. is on a path to be the team’s best.
Champ Bailey and many past Denver Broncos corner backs rank as some of the all-time greats. For current defensive back Chris Harris Jr., he is on a path as the greatest. In a short amount of time (five years), Harris Jr. is halfway from breaking Bailey’s passes defended record in a Broncos uniform. Bailey registered 123 passes defended in his stint with the Broncos. Harris sits at 66

He could still run and do everything. He focused more on his fundamentals the older he got.”
Understanding the techniques from playing with Champ is something Harris Jr. will forever remember.
